About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team based in Cork.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of residential and mixed-use development projects throughout Ireland working closely with private developers local authorities statutory bodies and multidisciplinary design teams. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from planning and design through to construction support while helping to grow and develop our expanding Cork operation.

The position will suit an experienced engineer with strong project management capabilities commercial awareness and a proven track record delivering development infrastructure projects within the Irish market.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead the planning design and delivery of residential and mixed-use development projects.
  • Manage projects through all phases including feasibility planning detailed design tender and construction support.
  • Act as Project Manager and Design Lead on multidisciplinary schemes.
  • Coordinate and manage external stakeholders clients local authorities and design team partners.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely on programme within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and review of:
    • Foul water drainage systems
    • Surface water drainage systems
    • Stormwater management infrastructure
    • Watermain networks
    • Road and development infrastructure
  • Prepare and review technical reports design calculations specifications and construction documentation.
  • Oversee the use of Civil 3D and other digital design tools.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Irish standards planning requirements and Uisce Éireann guidelines.

Planning & Stakeholder Management

  • Support and manage projects through Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) and other planning processes.
  • Liaise directly with private developers planning consultants local authorities Uisce Éireann and other statutory bodies.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and represent Egis at client meetings and project workshops.

Leadership & Commercial Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
  • Manage project resources programmes budgets and risks.
  • Support fee proposals contract negotiations and commercial management activities.
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management initiatives.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland ICE or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
  • Strong experience within the Irish residential development sector.
  • Proven experience managing relationships with private developers and public sector bodies.
  • Understanding of Irish planning processes including LRD applications.
  • Strong project management and multidisciplinary design coordination experience.
  • Excellent commercial awareness covering project fees contracts and project delivery.
  • Extensive experience in foul and surface water drainage design and watermain infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Uisce Éireann design and construction standards.
  • Experience using Civil 3D.
  • Full driving licence and availability to attend client offices and sites throughout the Cork region.
