Job Specification: Risk Quality and Patient Safety Manager
Elite Talent Hub Recruitment is recruiting a Risk Quality and Patient Safety Manager on behalf of a leading client in the healthcare industry.
Position Overview
- Role: Risk Quality and Patient Safety Manager (Grade VII equivalent)
- Type: Whole-Time Permanent Contract
- Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday with executive on-call rotation)
- Salary: 80000 per annum
- Location: Mid-West Region Ireland
Core Purpose
Collaborate with senior management to develop implement and evaluate a comprehensive quality and safety framework. This role drives operational excellence across risk management clinical audits compliance and patient safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Risk & Incident Management
- Lead Risk Functions: Co-ordinate all risk assessment and mitigation processes.
- Risk Registers: Maintain the Corporate Risk Register and support departmental integration.
- Incident Oversight: Review categorise and investigate incident reports using electronic entry systems.
- Trend Analysis: Interpret incident data to implement proactive safety measures.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Regulatory Standards: Ensure continuous compliance with national healthcare standards and legislation.
- Auditing: Oversee periodic audits to ensure operational and clinical assurance.
- Policy Development: Design and update evidence-based policies procedures and guideline frameworks.
Strategy & Legal Liaison
- Organisational Learning: Maintain a repository of safety insights to prevent issue recurrence.
- Legal & Claims: Act as the primary liaison for the state claims agency and external legal teams.
- Information Release: Coordinate documentation releases with Freedom of Information (FOI) officers.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications
- Required: Third-level academic or professional qualification in Risk Management or a related discipline (minimum Diploma level).
- Desirable: Level 8 award (or higher) in Risk Management or Quality in Healthcare.
Experience & Knowledge
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare patient safety risk management or incident tracking.
- System Analysis: Proven track record in leading serious incident investigations and system analysis.
- Change Leadership: Experience driving structural or operational change within complex environments.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with legal clinical and management teams.
