Project Manager (Fixed Term), Audience Development & Stakeholder Engagement
Job Summary
The National Gallery of Ireland is seeking to recruit a Project Manager on a two-year fixed-term contract. This role sits within the Audience Development and Stakeholder Engagement (AD&SE) pillar and plays a key role in delivering a number of strategic initiatives including the project management of the redevelopment of the Gallerys website upgrades to the Gallerys café and catering facilities and an organisational rebrand.
The Project Manager will support the delivery of high-profile cross-functional projects that enhance the Gallerys visitor experience strengthen the Gallerys identity and improve digital and operational services. The role will work closely with the Head of AD&SE and senior stakeholders across the organisation as well as external suppliers and delivery partners to ensure projects are delivered effectively on time and within budget.
- Lead end-to-end project planning including scope definition timelines milestones resource allocation and risk management.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams: Communications Commercial Visitor Experience Development Education Exhibitions Collections Library & Archives Design Web Services and leadershipto ensure alignment and smooth execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project communications ensuring stakeholders are informed engaged and aligned with project goals.
- Translate business objectives into actionable project plans ensuring the website redevelopment and organisational rebrand support the Gallerys strategic priorities and user/visitor expectations.
- Develop and manage budgets and timelines tracking progress controlling scope and proactively addressing delays or blockers.
- Oversee quality assurance reviewing deliverables for brand consistency UX standards accessibility and technical accuracy.
- Facilitate decision-making escalating issues when needed and ensuring timely approvals to maintain project momentum.
- Identify and mitigate risks anticipating challenges and implementing solutions before they impact delivery.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained and reporting delivered - including procurement status updates dashboards meeting notes and post launch evaluations.
- Drive continuous improvement capturing lessons learned and optimising processes for future digital and brand initiatives
- A third-level qualification in project management business digital marketing communications or a related discipline
- Proven experience in delivering end-to-end projects in a complex cross-functional environments (e.g. website and branding in visitor attractions)
- Experience working with external suppliers agencies or vendors including procurement contract oversight and performance management
- Strong project management skills with the ability to define scope manage timelines control budgets and deliver against milestones
- Professional project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2 PMP Agile/Scrum) is desirable
- Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across different functions ensuring alignment and clear communication throughout project delivery
- Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into structured actionable project plans
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate risks manage dependencies and resolve issues proactively
- Experience using project management tools and reporting systems (e.g. dashboards status reports project plans) to track progress and inform stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance including user experience brand consistency accessibility and delivery standards
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders internal teams and external partners
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery
- A proactive delivery-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management or collaboration tools (e.g. Asana Jira Trello MS Project)
- An interest in cultural organisations visitor experience digital engagement or brand development is desirable
- A positive professional approach to working in a cultural institution and contributing to public-facing high-impact projects
- A positive approach to working in the Gallery and the ability to deliver an effective and professional service

1. A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union Iceland Liechtenstein and Norway; or
2. A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or
3. A citizen of Switzerland pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or
4. A non-EEA citizen who has a Stamp 4 permission or a Stamp 5 permission.
Please note: A 50 TEU permission which serves as a replacement for Stamp 4EUFAM after Brexit is considered equivalent to Stamp 4.

Grade and Salary: The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Higher Executive Officer (PPC) pay scale as per the 1 June 2026 pay adjustments. The salary scale for this position is as follows:

- The starting salary will be at the first point on the scale 60029 per annum or on a higher point of the scale as appropriate to the successful candidate if appointed from an existing public sector role (in accordance with Circular 08/2019).
- Candidates should note the National Gallery of Ireland complies with Department of Public Expenditure and Reform regulations and guidelines on Public Service pay and conditions of employment.
Annual Leave: The successful candidate will be entitled to 29 days of annual leave pro rata.
Superannuation:The successful candidate will be placed on the public sector pension scheme.
Benefits:The Gallery provides staff the opportunity to participate in the tax saver and cycle to work schemes.
Duration: Twoyear fixedterm contract.
Working hours: Full time 5 days a week - 35 hours per week (net of breaks). Please note flexibility is required and the successful candidate may be required to work occasional late evenings and weekends. Time off in lieu will be provided for any work outside regular hours.
