AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Buildings Places team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering innovative mechanical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare education railway stations and mission-critical data centres.

About the Role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer you will provide technical leadership manage multidisciplinary design teams and work closely with clients architects contractors and stakeholders to deliver high-quality sustainable engineering solutions. You will contribute to the growth of our Building Services team while helping to shape some of Irelands most significant infrastructure and building developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design and delivery of major building projects across the healthcare education transport and data centre sectors.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams coordinating with electrical structural civil architectural and specialist disciplines.
• Act as the technical lead on complex projects ensuring designs comply with Irish and international standards regulations and industry best practice.
• Develop innovative energy-efficient and low-carbon mechanical building services solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout project delivery.
• Manage project programmes resources budgets and commercial performance.
• Review and approve engineering calculations specifications reports and technical documentation.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and support their professional development.
• Participate in business development activities including proposal preparation client presentations and project interviews.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of engineering best practice across the business.

Heres what were looking for:

As the successful candidate you will have experience working across a range of sectors and will possess the following qualifications skills and experience:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional institution.
• Significant experience in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems public health systems heating and cooling plant low-carbon technologies and sustainable building design.
• Experience delivering projects within one or more of the following sectors:
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Railway stations and transport infrastructure
  • Mission-critical data centres
• Excellent communication leadership and client management skills.
• Strong understanding of Irish Building Regulations CIBSE guidance relevant British Standards and European Standards.
