Job Summary

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals nursing homes home care and community care.

We are urgently seeking a Preoperative Assessment Lead for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to ensure high standards of patient care across Endoscopy Day Surgery and OPD/PAC services.
  • Coordinate assess plan implement and evaluate patient care using an evidence-based and person-centred care planning approach.
  • Deliver safe and comprehensive nursing care in accordance with NMBI guidelines HIQA standards HSE policies CHKS requirements local protocols and current legislation.
  • Conduct and document pre-operative assessments including patient history health screening nursing evaluation and identification of suitability for surgery.
  • Arrange and review pre-operative investigations such as blood tests ECGs x-rays and pulmonary function tests escalating abnormal findings to relevant clinicians.
  • Collaborate closely with GPs Anaesthetists Surgeons Endoscopists and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care treatment planning and discharge processes.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation participate in clinical audits collect KPI data and contribute to the development and implementation of nursing standards policies and best practices.
  • Promote dignity respect health education and emotional support for service users and their families throughout the patient journey.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives research activities and evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development by supporting staff education competency programmes reflective practice clinical supervision and succession planning.


Requirements
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience is required.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience must be in Pre-Assessment Theatre Endoscopy Anaesthetic or Day Surgery settings.
  • Demonstrated clinical managerial and administrative capability to effectively perform the responsibilities of the role.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialty area is essential.
  • Strong clinical background and experience in Endoscopy Theatre or Day Surgery environments.
  • Completion of a Management Course is desirable or willingness to undertake the programme.
  • Good understanding of risk management clinical audit processes and research practices within healthcare settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant healthcare software systems.
  • Experience in change management processes and quality improvement initiatives is desirable.
  • Completion of a recognised post-registration qualification in Peri-Operative Care would be an added advantage.
