Job Summary

We are currently recruiting a Pharmacy Technician - Rotational (Fixed Term Contract) for a well-established hospital in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and motivated professional to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team within a modern clinical setting.

Job Type Contract / Full-time

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Procure store and supply medicines and pharmaceutical products while ensuring quality cost-effectiveness and compliance with departmental policies.
  • Provide dispensary services including prescription dispensing extemporaneous compounding stock management medication charging returns processing and Pyxis automated dispensing system maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory by monitoring stock levels rotating stock checking expiry dates processing ward returns and reporting shortages promptly.
  • Prepare package and distribute pharmaceutical products including bulk repackaging CPR grab-boxes feeding products and other medication kits.
  • Support Aseptic Services by preparing chemotherapy medications operating pharmaceutical isolators maintaining equipment completing documentation and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records workload statistics medication usage data and documentation while responding to telephone queries and supporting daily departmental operations.
  • Participate in staff education by assisting with the training of pharmacists pharmacy technicians students and other healthcare professionals while engaging in continuous professional development.
  • Provide technical support for pharmacy information systems including the Pyxis automated drug cabinet system and assist clinical staff in its effective use.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by participating in audits medication incident reporting policy development accreditation programmes and adherence to hospital quality and safety standards.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Pharmacy Department and hospital policies including participation in on-call services weekend and extended-hour rosters while maintaining flexibility to meet evolving service needs.



Requirements

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Experience in pharmacy services is desirable.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation systems and compounding is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a professional pharmacy team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health safety and quality.
  • Ability to contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in training or mentoring is desirable.
  • Computer literate with good attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated trustworthy and committed to person-centred care.

  • Required Skills:
