Job Summary

ID Recruitment is partnering with a leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing company to recruit an Operations Manager for its Castlebar facility.

The Operations Manager will lead the planning coordination and overall direction of manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of customer needs operational challenges and emerging opportunities. With expertise in engineering and manufacturing excellence they will drive scalability and efficiency while developing both short- and long-term strategies to address challenges capitalise on opportunities and respond effectively to changing business condition

Main Duties and Responsibilities include;

  • Work with the Associate Director of Operations to oversee Castlebar business operations relating to Production and Warehouse and logistics while managing developing and evaluating these teams.
  • Drive schedule adherence and manufacturing efficiency through effective production control and visual management systems.
  • Ensures continual quality system compliance by adherence to established and evolving QMS and Customer requirements.
  • Own staffing level decisions across the production floor adjusting shift patterns and overtime to meet daily requirements while controlling labor cost. Ensure prioritization of Manufacturing Engineering activities to support production.
  • Lead manufacturing operational improvement projects end-to-end from scoping through implementation and measured results.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain (Planning Procurement Transport & Logistics and Customer Service) to identify and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Work with the Planning department to address problems identified in daily production reports such as orders on hold and past due orders.
  • Work closely with Software development team to advise and test changes made to Meissner ERP and MES systems.
  • Develop systems which promote efficiency accountability and continuous organisational improvement.
  • Oversee creation of processes for new operations and oversee installation and management of these new technologies and revenue streams in the Castlebar facility. Own labor efficiency and utilization KPIs; when targets are missed work with supervisors to diagnose the cause and drive corrective action.
  • Promote a safe work environment. Provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participate in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Address corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notify supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
  • Oversee create revision and adherence to Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) related to Castlebar manufacturing operations.
  • Continually manage multiple shifts for production & warehousing to ensure efficient utilization of capacity this includes but is not limited to the review of shift patterns over time schedules support structures etc.
  • Ensure quality of product is consistent to reduce returns or operational inefficiencies.


Requirements
  • 5 years of industry experience supporting engineering product development manufacturing and business operations in a leadership role.
  • 3 years of prior people management experience preferred.
  • Minimum Level 8 degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering Business Management Biotechnology Bioprocessing or similar.
  • Action-oriented with a high-level drive for results and passion to drive business in a competitive environment.
  • Goal oriented and self-motivated individual with capability to work in cross-functional manner and multicultural environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills to liaise and strengthen relationship with internal peers and external customers.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Ability to use advanced computer skills is essential programs including Microsoft Word Excel Power Point and Outlook.




Required Skills:

5 years of industry experience supporting engineering product development manufacturing and business operations in a leadership role. 3 years of prior people management experience preferred. Minimum Level 8 degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering Business Management Biotechnology Bioprocessing or similar. Action-oriented with a high-level drive for results and passion to drive business in a competitive environment. Goal oriented and self-motivated individual with capability to work in cross-functional manner and multicultural environment.
