The Vet Office is recruiting a Lead Veterinary Surgeon for a brand-new small animal clinic in Portmarnock County Dublin.

This isnt simply another Lead Vet position.

Its an opportunity to join a newly opened practice at an early stage and have genuine influence over its clinical standards team culture client relationships and future growth.

Youll have the autonomy to lead the clinical team while remaining actively involved in the medicine and surgery you enjoy.

Salary & Bonus Package

gross/year depending on experience.

PLUS:

A Brand-New Clinic

The Portmarnock clinic opened in 2026 and offers modern diagnostic and treatment facilities.

Youll join an existing team including:

Veterinary Surgeon
Head Veterinary Nurse
Animal Care Assistant

As Lead Vet youll have the opportunity to help develop the clinical team and grow the practice from its early stages.

Clinical services include:

  • Surgery
  • Dentistry
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • General diagnostics
  • Preventative healthcare
  • Small animal consultations
The Role

This position combines clinical work leadership and practice development.

Youll:

  • Lead motivate and develop the clinical team
  • Mentor vets and support their clinical progression
  • Champion high standards of medicine and patient care
  • Work closely with the Head Nurse
  • Develop clinical protocols and best practice
  • Drive preventative healthcare and client education
  • Help shape the clinics culture as it grows
  • Support implementation of new clinical initiatives
  • Lead delivery of the clinics business plan
  • Monitor KPIs and clinic performance
  • Contribute to the long-term growth and success of the practice

Youll have genuine scope to make your mark rather than simply inherit an established way of working.

Working Pattern

5-day week
1 in 4 Saturdays
Only 1 in 12 Sundays

Who Were Looking For

Were looking for a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with:

  • MVB DVM or equivalent
  • 3 years veterinary experience
  • Strong small animal clinical skills
  • Good clinical decision-making
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • An interest in mentoring and developing colleagues
  • A proactive approach to patient and client care
  • An interest in the commercial and operational side of a veterinary practice

Previous Lead Vet or Senior Vet experience is preferred but wed also be interested in speaking with experienced veterinarians who feel ready to take the next step into leadership.
