RTÉs New Direction strategy positions the organisation to champion culture in Ireland captivate audiences with trusted and challenging content and celebrate Irelands rich diversity.
As we continue our transformation journey we are seeking an exceptional HR leader to join our People Team as Head of Human Resources.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer this role will be a key strategic partner to senior business leaders driving organisational performance employee engagement and cultural transformation across RTÉ.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of one of Irelands most recognised organisations helping to build a high-performing inclusive and future-ready workforce while supporting significant organisational change and transformation initiatives.
This position will initially partner with the Audio and Video Divisions supporting a range of people initiatives and operational priorities across both functions.

This appointment will be made on a fixed term full-time contract for a duration of 3 years on a Department Manager Grade 1 salary scale. The salary range isgross per annum depending on experience.

About the role
- Strategic HR advisor to senior leaders on all people-related matters.
- Lead and develop a team of HR professionals ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer focused HR services.
- Drive the implementation of RTÉs People Strategy supporting organisational transformation and culture change programmes.
- Lead employee and industrial relations within assigned business areas including investigations grievances disciplinary processes mediation and third-party employment disputes.
- Represent RTÉ in negotiations consultations and engagement with recognised trade unions and staff representative groups.
- Provide expert advice on employment law organisational change restructuring and workforce planning.
- Partner with leaders on talent management succession planning capability development and organisational effectiveness.
- Support key strategic projects including career framework implementation pay transparency initiatives and HR systems transformation.
- Champion employee engagement wellbeing inclusion and positive workplace culture initiatives aligned with RTÉs values and strategic objectives.
About you
- Significant senior-level Human Resources leadership experience within a large and complex organisation.
- Proven experience partnering effectively with executive leadership teams and senior stakeholders to support strategic business outcomes.
- Extensive experience in employee relations industrial relations and representing RTE in third party forums e.g. WRC Labour Court.
- Strong knowledge of Irish employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks and HR best practice.
- Demonstrated success in leading organisational change transformation and cultural development initiatives.
- Experience developing high-performing teams and building strong stakeholder relationships across all organisational levels.
- Outstanding communication negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility and trust quickly.
- Strong commercial awareness sound judgement and effective decision-making capability.
- Experience operating within a unionised environment.
- A relevant third-level qualification in Human Resources Business Organisational Development or a related discipline.
- CIPD membership or membership of an equivalent professional body is desirable.
