Reporting into senior leadership the Head of Home Underwriting will take responsibility for the technical underwriting performance and risk integrity of the Home portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and develop Home underwriting strategy and risk appetite
- Own underwriting decision-making for complex and referred risks
- Lead underwriting governance controls and delegated authority compliance
- Monitor portfolio performance exposure and emerging risk trends
- Work closely with Pricing and Analytics on portfolio insights and trading outcomes
- Review claims trends and incorporate findings into underwriting strategy
- Act as the primary underwriting contact for insurer and capacity partners
- Support insurer audits governance reviews and delegated authority requirements
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to portfolio growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability
We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- 5 years Home Insurance underwriting experience
- CIP qualification (essential)
- Technical underwriting leadership experience within an insurer or MGA
- Strong understanding of delegated authority arrangements
- Experience managing complex underwriting decisions and referrals
- Strong stakeholder management skills with insurers brokers and senior leaders
- Commercial awareness combined with strong underwriting discipline
Experience within an MGA environment Home portfolio development or product growth initiatives would be highly advantageous.
