Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this post is to review charts on discharge expertly extract all administrative and clinical information relevant to each day case and inpatient episode of care translate medical terminology using ICD-10-AM 12th Edition into accurate codes that represent the patients treatment and diagnoses and to meet monthly deadline as set by HSE and HPO.

Essential Criteria:

• Educated to Leaving Certificate Standard or passed an examination of comparable standard at second level
• Have experience of hospital procedures and hospital activities
• Have excellent PC skills - Microsoft Office suite and other IT related packages.
• Excellent organisational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Medical terminology
• Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to deal with people in a compassionate and supportive manner with an emphasis on a high level of customer service
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written
