The Vet Office is recruiting an Experienced Veterinary Surgeon for a well-established and respected independent mixed practice in County Cork Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a vet who already has solid clinical experience and is looking for a long-term position with a varied caseload professional autonomy and an attractive package.
The caseload offers a genuine balance of approximately:
50% Equine
50% Small Animal
You will work alongside an experienced veterinary team managing your own cases while having the support and facilities required for more challenging clinical work.
Depending on your experience and interests the position can involve:
- Small animal consultations and medical work-ups
- Small animal surgery
- Equine ambulatory work
- Equine medicine and diagnostics
- Routine and more complex equine cases
- Emergency and out-of-hours cases
- Opportunity to develop particular clinical interests
We are particularly interested in speaking with vets who are confident clinically and comfortable taking responsibility for their own cases while still enjoying working as part of a collaborative team.
The practice offers a shared and manageable rota:
- 1 in 4 general rota
- 1 evening OOH per week
- 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
Salary: per year depending on experience

This vacancy is particularly suited to an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with an interest or background in mixed and/or equine practice.
You should:
- Be VCI registered or eligible for VCI registration
- Have previous veterinary clinical experience
- Be comfortable with both small animal and equine work
- Have good communication and client-management skills
- Be confident working independently when required
- Enjoy being part of a close collaborative veterinary team
- Ideally hold a full driving licence
Experience in equine practice mixed practice surgery emergency work or independent practice would be particularly valuable.
