Deputy Regional Director of Operations
Job Summary
Lead the implementation of the Nursing home compliance plan ensuring regulatory actions HIQA requirements and identified gaps are monitored evidenced and completed within agreed timelines.
Strengthen clinical governance and quality by overseeing audits KPIs risk management care planning medicines management infection prevention and control safeguarding restrictive practices incidents complaints and residents rights.
Ensure the nursing home remains inspection-ready through regular audits mock inspections thematic reviews clinical walkarounds and accurate regulatory notifications returns and compliance reporting.
Review clinical risks incidents complaints and safeguarding concerns ensuring appropriate investigation escalation learning and completion of corrective actions while promoting a human rights-based and person-centred approach to care.
Support workforce planning by reviewing staffing levels and skill mix overseeing mandatory training and competency assessments and mentoring the ADON and Clinical Nurse Managers to develop a strong and sustainable clinical leadership structure.
Build effective relationships with HIQA HSE Public Health IPC teams GPs pharmacy allied health professionals residents and families using feedback and clinical data to drive continuous quality improvement and provide regular compliance and KPI reporting.
Deputise for the Regional Director of Operations as required and where appropriate act as Person in Charge during the absence of the Director of Nursing while supporting other homes with audits and best-practice initiatives and ensuring effective handover and sustainability planning.
Registered Nurse with active registration on the NMBI Register.
Meets the regulatory requirements to act as Person in Charge including the required nursing and management experience and relevant management qualification.
Minimum 35 years senior management experience in a clinical or operational leadership role preferably within residential care for older people.
Proven experience managing HIQA inspections compliance plans and regulatory improvement initiatives.
Strong knowledge of clinical governance clinical audit quality improvement and relevant healthcare regulatory requirements.
Postgraduate qualification in gerontology clinical governance quality and patient safety or healthcare management is desirable.
Experience leading a healthcare service through regulatory improvement along with a full driving licence and access to a car is desirable due to the regional requirements of the role.
