Job Summary

EHS International is placing an experienced Safety Advisor with an established Irish construction contractor on an ongoing project basis. This is a full-time site-based role for a specialist who knows the construction environment not a generalist looking for a first construction posting.

An active construction project requires a dedicated competent Safety Advisor to manage all on-site health and safety activity. The client is an established Irish contractor with a track record of ongoing project delivery. You will be the single point of EHS accountability on site working closely with site management and the principal contractor hierarchy.

This is a contractor placement role arranged through EHS International. The engagement is ongoing not a short-term cover position.

Job Description
Act as the primary EHS representative on a live construction site
Develop maintain and enforce the sites Safety Management Plan
Conduct daily site inspections and document findings with corrective actions
Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Manage and audit permit-to-work systems including working at height confined space and hot works
Investigate incidents and near-misses root cause analysis and reporting
Liaise with the HSA in the event of any notifiable incident or inspection
Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to site operatives and subcontractors
Monitor subcontractor EHS compliance and audit their documentation
Maintain site safety records in line with Construction Regulations 2013 requirements

WHAT YOU BRING
Minimum 5 years of dedicated EHS experience with substantial construction sector exposure
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) Diploma level preferred
Current Safe Pass card (mandatory)
Familiarity with the Irish Construction Regulations 2013 and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
Proven ability to manage RAMS site safety plans and permit-to-work systems independently
Experience engaging with subcontractors and enforcing compliance without escalation
Full clean driving licence and own transport

Benefical
Experience in a PSDP or PSCS advisory capacity
Working at Height Confined Space or Lifting Operations qualification
Manual handling instructor qualification
Previous role as sole-charge safety advisor on a live construction project



Required Skills:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements Essential NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent recognised qualification. Strong knowledge of current Irish and international health and safety legislation standards and best practice. Experience working in a health and safety role relevant to the NEBOSH IGC syllabus. Experience in delivering training teaching or coaching within an adult learning environment. High level of written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Membership with a recognised professional body such as IOSH or the IIRSM at a grade appropriate to the Lead Tutor role. If membership is not held evidence of robust methods used to stay up to date with current legislation and professional development. Experience delivering NEBOSH or other accredited training programmes. Experience in developing content for blended learning or virtual learning environments.
