Clinical Nurse Specialist – Infection Prevention and Control
Job Summary
Lead and manage the Infection Prevention & Control service ensuring high professional standards and evidence-based practice
Provide strong clinical and professional leadership in infection prevention and control
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of Joint Commission International (JCI) infection prevention and control standards
Coordinate Infection Prevention & Control Committee meetings and contribute to relevant Quality & Patient Safety Committee activities
Manage infection control records policies protocols and guidelines in line with hospital requirements and best practice
Lead the surveillance monitoring investigation prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections in collaboration with the Consultant Microbiologist
Advise Nursing Management and Bed Management on the management and placement of patients with infectious conditions
Support clinical audit research quality improvement initiatives and the development of performance metrics for infection prevention and control
Ensure incidents involving patients and staff are appropriately reported investigated and documented in accordance with legal and organisational requirements
Support hospital accreditation and quality management processes including JCI and HIQA while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and best practice
Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current professional registration
Minimum of 7 years post-registration nursing experience including at least 1 year of Infection Prevention & Control experience
Relevant management experience and/or a recognised management qualification
Strong leadership accountability interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development at the appropriate level

Flexible approach to working patterns with the roster generally covering 5 days per week in line with service requirements

Required Skills:
