Job Summary
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Day Surgery Unit ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality service delivery.
- Provide clinical leadership guidance and supervision to nursing staff and healthcare assistants.
- Coordinate pre-operative and post-operative patient care ensuring safe timely and effective treatment.
- Maintain the highest standards of patient safety infection prevention and control and clinical governance.
- Ensure the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in accordance with hospital policies national standards and best practice guidelines.
- Support staff development through mentoring education training and performance management.
- Monitor investigate and manage clinical incidents risks complaints and patient feedback implementing corrective actions where required.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient-centred care and continuity throughout the surgical pathway.
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance with all regulatory professional and organisational standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives audits and service development to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Current registration on the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register with a valid NMBI PIN (essential).
- 24 years of post-registration nursing experience in an acute hospital setting in Ireland (essential).
- Previous anaesthetic nursing experience (essential).
- Minimum of 1 years experience in a Day Surgery Unit and/or Operating Theatre environment (essential).
- Minimum of 1 years management or leadership experience in a clinical setting (desirable).
- A recognised postgraduate qualification or relevant specialist experience in the area of practice (desirable).
- Completion of a recognised management or leadership development programme (desirable).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or willingness to complete the course (essential).
- Demonstrated clinical competence with a strong commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong leadership decision-making and problem-solving abilities with a commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.

Required Skills:
