Job Summary

We are urgently seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 - Endoscopy for a hospital in Westmeath Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to the nursing team within the Endoscopy Unit.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Endoscopy Department ensuring safe and efficient patient flow.

  • Supervise support and allocate nursing and healthcare staff according to patient needs workload and skill mix.

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality evidence-based and patient-centred nursing care before during and after endoscopic procedures.

  • Assist with the assessment preparation monitoring and recovery of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control decontamination and patient safety standards within the Endoscopy Unit.

  • Provide orientation supervision mentorship and clinical support to new and existing staff.

  • Identify staff training needs and facilitate continuing professional development competency assessment and in-service education.

  • Ensure all staff comply with hospital policies procedures clinical guidelines and NMBI professional standards.

  • Monitor and maintain accurate clinical documentation patient records and departmental reports.

  • Promote effective communication and collaboration with consultants medical staff healthcare professionals patients and their families.

  • Participate in clinical audits quality improvement initiatives risk management and accreditation activities.

  • Assist in the development implementation and review of Endoscopy policies protocols SOPs and clinical guidelines.

  • Monitor incidents complaints and clinical risks ensuring appropriate escalation investigation and follow-up.

  • Ensure appropriate use and availability of clinical equipment supplies and other departmental resources.

  • Support effective staff rostering scheduling and daily allocation to maintain adequate service coverage.

  • Promote a safe respectful and supportive working environment for patients staff and visitors.

  • Keep up to date with current developments and best practices in Endoscopy Nursing and support their implementation within the department.

  • Contribute to service development and initiatives aimed at improving patient experience efficiency quality and safety.



Requirements
  • Registered General Nurse with active registration on the General Division of the NMBI Register or eligible for registration.

  • Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience including at least 1 year of experience in Endoscopy or a related speciality for CNM1 roles.

  • Demonstrate clinical managerial and administrative competence appropriate to the CNM1 role.

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

  • Demonstrable experience in Endoscopy Nursing including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

  • Endoscopy-specific qualification/course is desirable; relevant Foundation Course in Endoscopy/Decontamination may be required or undertaken.

  • Knowledge of endoscope decontamination standards and infection prevention and control.

  • Previous management leadership or in-charge experience is desirable.

  • Management training/qualification is desirable.

  • ACLS certification may be desirable depending on the hospital.

  • Good IT communication leadership and multidisciplinary team-working skills.

Required Skills:
