Job Summary

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals nursing homes home care and community care.

We are urgently seeking a Clinical Facilitator for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership across the Perioperative Department Endoscopy Unit Surgical Ward Step-Down Unit and Minor Injuries Unit promoting excellence in patient care teamwork innovation and continuous quality improvement.

  • Act as a clinical role model and specialist resource for nursing medical and allied health staff while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice in line with the NMBI Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Deliver high-quality clinical education lectures workshops simulation training and in-service programmes for postgraduate nursing students and departmental staff using evidence-based teaching methodologies.

  • Lead the orientation induction mentorship and clinical facilitation of newly appointed staff adaptation nurses practice support nurses and postgraduate students within the designated clinical areas.

  • Plan coordinate and evaluate clinical placements in collaboration with university programme leads nurse tutors Clinical Nurse Managers and relevant hospital personnel to ensure achievement of learning outcomes.

  • Conduct competency assessments provide constructive feedback counselling and professional guidance and support staff and students in achieving required clinical competencies and development goals.

  • Identify continuing education needs within the department and develop implement and evaluate staff development programmes in partnership with Clinical Nurse Managers and the Assistant Director of Nursing.

  • Participate actively in clinical audits accreditation processes quality improvement initiatives policy development and the implementation of hospital standards guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice through research professional networking participation in conferences publication activities and ongoing personal and professional development.

  • Support staff supervision performance appraisal probation reviews committee participation effective communication workload management health and safety compliance and preparation of quarterly Clinical Facilitator activity reports for the ADON.



Requirements
  • Minimum of five years post-registration nursing experience including at least two years experience in perioperative care endoscopy surgical nursing step-down/high-dependency care or minor injuries.

  • Demonstrated clinical managerial and administrative competence with the ability to effectively fulfil the responsibilities of the role.

  • Previous experience in clinical facilitation nurse education or staff training is desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of nursing guidelines policies procedures and protocols relevant to acute and specialist nursing services.

  • Good understanding of clinical learning environments and educational requirements across perioperative endoscopy surgical step-down and minor injuries settings.

  • Clear understanding of pre-registration nursing education and clinical learning objectives for both pre- and post-registration nursing students.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NMBI Scope of Nursing Practice Framework and its application to clinical practice.

  • Awareness of current nursing research clinical audit quality standards and evidence-based practice with the ability to apply findings to improve patient care.

  • Proactive approach to innovation in clinical education digital learning tools contemporary nursing practice and service improvement.

  • Evidence of commitment to personal and professional development including maintaining a structured career development plan and staying current with developments in nursing practice.
