As Irelands national public service media organisation RTÉ News and Current Affairs provides independent and trusted news and current affairs content across multiple platforms.
We are looking for Clarity Correspondent on a Fixed Purpose contract basis (leave cover).
Clarity is RTÉs focus on disinformation discourse and democracy. RTÉ News and Current Affairs is seeking to recruit a Clarity correspondent to strengthen our coverage across all platforms under the Clarity banner focusing on the growing challenge posed by false and misleading information online.
As people spend increasing amounts of time online more than ever we are susceptible to online conspiracy theories and AI generated deepfake content that can be widely shared posing a threat to our democratic institutions.
RTÉs Clarity Correspondent will supply reports focusing on the spread of information designed to deliberately mislead or misdirect public discourse. They will be responsible for investigating the origins impact and evolution of conspiracy movements across a range of briefs from politics to health and global affairs.
The journalism published under the Clarity strand will feature across Prime Time and RTÉ TV and radio as well as on the RTÉ News app in written and video formats as appropriate.
The Correspondent will demystify complicated issues debunk deliberate attempts to distort reality detail how online discourse impacts democracy and explain exactly how RTÉ verifies its quality journalism.
This role aligns with the 5-year Statement of Strategy and its focus on disinformation.

About the role:
- You will be based in the Current Affairs Digital Unit and will report to the Deputy Editor of Digital delivering verified fact checked reliable content.
- Identify and explain how disinformation spreads online.
- Use OSINT and verification tools to analyse online content.
- Provide reports for Prime Time and RTÉ News on linear TV.
- Create visual explainers stand-ups and reports with graphics for digital and social channels.
- Write long read and analysis pieces.
- Contribute to live reporting on events.
- Focus on providing transparency and clarity to our audience on how our journalism works.
- Script film and cut video content for use across all platforms.
- Based in Dublin.
- You will have significant journalistic experience and a proven track record in driving original journalism.
- You will have sound editorial judgement with good visual storytelling ability writing and analytical skills.
- A good working knowledge of how to use verification tools.
- You have drive enthusiasm and can work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- You will be comfortable in a live studio environment with an engaging on screen style and a relaxed radio presence for Q&As.
- A clean drivers licence is essential.
