Breast Care Liaison Nurse
Job Summary
- To give patients receiving breast care specialized knowledge skills and attention.
- To provide guidance and assistance while acknowledging the potential variations in the psychological effects of a breast cancer diagnosis.
- To ensure continual optimal care for inpatients and out-patients and their families.
- To create and take part in clinics for results and follow-up.
- Must maintain precise readable records and understand the legal ramifications.
- Maintaining close communication with the patients primary care teams.
- To exhibit the capacity to engage in multidisciplinary meetings with all experts in patient care.
- To create and oversee nursing practice standards to guarantee optimal practice.
- To work in partnership with the Surgical Medical and Radiation Oncology Teams to design care pathways implement best practice guidelines and standards of care.
- Leads clinical practice and serves as a mentor and resource for specialised practice.
- Attend the weekly Breast MDT and take action on the patients results.
- Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration and a minimum of 5 years post-registration clinical experience including at least 2 years in breast care breast surgery or medical oncology.
- Relevant specialist qualification preferred such as a Postgraduate Qualification in Oncology Nursing (Breast Care) and management development training.
- Strong communication organizational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively manage workload and patient caseloads.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating flexibility initiative and the capacity to work under pressure and lead change.
- Proficient IT skills and a strong interest in the development and advancement of breast care services with flexibility regarding working hours.
