We are currently seeking a Basic Grade Medical Scientist Biochemistry (FTC) for a leading hospital in Dublin. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic laboratory tests within the Biochemistry department ensuring accuracy reliability and the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing maintaining and enforcing laboratory procedures ensuring testing processes and equipment meet best-practice standards.
Support the implementation of operational procedures and a patient-centred quality management system including performance measurement and audit activities.
Perform diagnostic tests in accordance with JCI and INAB accreditation standards prioritising workloads and managing multiple concurrent tasks effectively.
Participate in on-call duties when required manage laboratory stock processes and contribute to evaluating new equipment consumables and technologies.
Record and report incidents equipment defects and complaints ensuring appropriate investigation and communication with laboratory management.
Engage in continuous professional development through self-directed learning formal training and on-the-job education.
Contribute to staff training maintain a high level of professionalism and promote clear respectful communication within the laboratory and with hospital teams.
Support and adhere to health and safety procedures participating in the development and implementation of accident prevention and management protocols.
Participate in quality assurance programmes ensuring compliance with all professional codes guidelines and internal/external quality control standards.
Assist with laboratory information systems supporting data collection reporting and departmental reviews while demonstrating flexibility to meet service needs.
Hold or be eligible for membership with the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science (AMLS) or an equivalent professional body.
Registered with CORU.
Minimum of one year of in-service training across multiple laboratory disciplines.
Essential experience in Biochemistry.
Post-qualification experience is desirable.
Previous participation in emergency on-call rotas.
Ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory management and hospital departments to ensure a high-quality laboratory service.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and dedicated approach.
Demonstrated adaptability to the evolving demands of the healthcare environment.
Understanding of the requirements for delivering a modern laboratory service.
Awareness of current methodologies and technologies used in laboratory science.
Familiarity with accreditation standards and objectives.
Knowledge of legislation relevant to providing a quality laboratory service.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
