Meet the team
RTÉ Content is responsible for delivering the most compelling programming and content across our television radio and digital channels. Drama & Comedy in Contentnow wish to hire two Assistant Script Editors for Fair City to begininAugust 2026. Fair City is a primetime serial drama comprising of200episodes per year broadcasting on RTÉ One and is a cornerstone of RTÉ Ones schedule and isthe primary series in the channels drama output.

Reporting to the Series and ExecutiveProducers the Assistant Script Editor role(s) is a key member of the production team within Fair City working within the existing editorial framework as set out by the Executive Producerand theproduction resources of the Assistant Script Editor works closely with both writers and Directors at each stage of the scripting and production process and is a vital practical support to the individual Script Editors on every aspect of production.

About the role
  • Update all spreadsheets story documents calendars bible etc. that the script department rely on for accuracy
  • Liaise with episode writers and the Press Office regarding billings
  • Manage the changes from final editorial draft to first production draft of all scripts
  • Answer initial queries from director before the directors tonal with Producers
  • Coordinate and liaise regarding details for production across all relevant departments.
  • Manage all post- directors tonal changes and subsequent printing and distribution of same to all departments and actors
  • Represent the editorial team to the actors at rehearsal answering any character voice or story points
  • Act as first point of contact for urgent production critical queries from the studio or EFP floor

About you
  • Significant practical experience in serial drama script work or transferable skills at an equivalent level
  • A good understanding of serial dramaits inherent heavy workload and high-volumequick turnaround
  • Strong dramatic instincts with exceptional language and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for and understanding of Fair City
  • Ambition for increasing the role of Fair City within Irish culture
  • Team instincts with an imaginative approach to problem solving
  • A good standard of education andbackground in language and literature is desirable

Both appointments will be made at the Assistant Script Editor grade and are being offered on a 1 year full-time fixed term contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from 35678 to 50920 gross per annum.
