Job Summary

In this role youll assess evaluate manage and support medication therapies for patients of all ages in outpatient and emergent settings. Your work will span dispensing pharmacy operations medication guidance for healthcare practitioners and accountability for prescription and controlled medications.

Youll also chair the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee with responsibility for formulary management and participate in other multidisciplinary committees and administrative projects as assigned.

  • Assignment Location: Onsite in Balad Iraq; relocation required.
  • Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a deployed work environment.
  • Coverage: On-call availability required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and operate a dispensing pharmacy including prescription intake and recording accurate packaging and dispensing and complete medication records. Collect daily data on prescriptions dispensed and the number of patients receiving prescriptions.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use possible adverse reactions and polypharmacy. Provide medication education and prescription recommendations to practitioners advise on potential interactions and assist nursing staff with medication reconciliation.
  • Develop and manage a formulary appropriate to the population and medical services provided. Manage non-formulary controlled and other critical medications including resuscitation medications and medications unique to pregnant individuals.
  • Oversee medication ordering and inventory to maintain required stock levels within established budgets. Manage the cold chain for temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals including vaccines and oversee expired medication returns to maximize credit when applicable.
  • Maintain accountability and required records for prescription and controlled medications. Participate in required monthly controlled-drug inventory counts audits reconciliation and reporting.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout medication procurement storage distribution and use. Review and update departmental policies inspect medication stock and use outside the pharmacy and report noncompliance to the Chief Medical Officer Health Service Manager and Chief Pharmacist.
  • Monitor pharmacy operations report adverse drug reactions and medication errors and implement quality improvements and corrective actions. Participate in mass-casualty drills as requested.

Qualifications :

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) or country equivalent.
  • Hold and maintain a current pharmacy license and registration from your country of origin with education and graduation transcripts.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a practicing pharmacist with at least six months of work in the pharmacist career field within the previous 12 months.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Assignment and Physical Requirements

  • Obtain medical clearance and maintain current immunizations.
  • Possess a valid passport from your country of record before relocation and maintain a current passport throughout your stay in Balad.
  • Be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods. Work may also require bending stooping and lifting up to 15 pounds.

Compensation Disclaimer:
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
