Job Description:
- We are seeking an experienced Workday Configuration Consultant to provide hands-on functional expertise across Core HCM Talent modules Skills Cloud Benefits Leave and Absence and Advanced Compensation.
- This contractor will support configuration optimisation and delivery of complex Workday requirements within a mature multi-country Workday environment. The role requires deep functional expertise strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate evolving HR and talent strategies into scalable Workday solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Workday Configuration & Optimisation
- Provide hands-on configuration across:
- Core HCM
- Advanced Compensation
- Benefits
- Leave and Absence
- Talent modules (e.g. Talent Profiles Performance Career Development Talent & Succession)
- Skills Cloud
- Design configure and deploy Workday solutions aligned to business reward and talent requirements.
- Configure business processes frameworks (BPFs) condition rules eligibility rules calculated fields and validations.
- Ensure configurations are scalable auditable and aligned to Workday best practices.
Talent & Skills Cloud Configuration
- Configure and support Workday Talent Profiles including skills competencies job profiles and worker attributes.
- Support Skills Cloud enablement and optimisation including:
- Skills inference and skill taxonomy alignment
- Integration of skills across job profiles roles and talent processes
- Configure and maintain Performance Career Development and Talent Review frameworks.
- Support Succession Planning configuration including pools readiness criteria and talent data structures.
- Partner with HR and Talent stakeholders to ensure system design supports broader talent mobility and workforce planning strategies.
Compensation Benefits & Absence
- Configure and maintain advanced compensation plans including merit bonus allowances and eligibility logic.
- Support compensation review cycles and reward-led changes.
- Configure leave and absence plans accruals and country-specific rules.
- Configure benefits plans enrolment rules eligibility and life events.
- Support issue resolution related to absence balances benefit eligibility and compensation calculations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with HR Reward Talent HRIS and Payroll stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
- Translate business needs into effective Workday configurations and clearly explain design decisions and impacts.
- Act as a trusted Workday functional advisor providing pragmatic guidance on system capabilities and constraints.
Testing Deployment & Documentation
- Support unit testing UAT deployment and post deployment validation.
- Assist with Workday Release impact assessments regression testing and remediation.
- Produce and maintain clear configuration documentation process flows and decision logs.
Required Experience & Skills
Essential
- Strong hands-on experience as a Workday Functional Consultant or Contractor.
- Proven configuration expertise across:
- Core HCM
- Advanced Compensation
- Benefits
- Leave and Absence
- Workday Talent modules
- Skills Cloud
- Solid understanding of Workday business process design eligibility logic calculated fields and security concepts (functional level).
- Experience working in multi-country or global Workday environments.
- Able to operate independently manage competing demands and deliver quality configuration at pace.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior HR Reward and Talent stakeholders.
Desirable / Nice to Have
- Workday Pro certifications (HCM Compensation Talent or Learning).
- Experience supporting:
- Annual compensation review cycles
- Talent reviews and succession planning cycles
- Skills-based workforce or career frameworks
- Experience in post-implementation optimisation or evolving Workday roadmaps.
- Exposure to payroll or benefits vendor integrations.
- Experience in regulated or compliance driven environments.
- Familiarity with using Jira as primary Project Management tool
