As a Technical Documentation Associate you will work at the heart of the engineering team to create and manage critical technical documents. You will:
Collaborate with Experts: Work directly with avionics flight controls and systems engineers to gather information and deeply understand the systems you are documenting.
Author Key Documents: Write edit format and maintain a wide range of technical documentation including:
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment and test setups.
User Manuals and guides for proprietary software and hardware.
Formal Test Procedures for System Integration Lab (SIL) ground and flight testing.
Detailed Test Reports summarizing results and findings.
System Description Documents and technical specifications.
Ensure Consistency and Quality: Enforce documentation standards templates and style guides across all materials to ensure a consistent and professional output.
Support Certification: Assist in the preparation review and organization of comprehensive documentation packages required for civil aerospace certification reviews.
Manage Document Control: Implement and manage a robust document control system ensuring proper versioning review cycles and archival of all technical documents.
Experience: 2 years of professional experience as a technical writer technical editor or documentation specialist in an engineering or software development environment.
Education: Bachelors degree in Technical Communication English Engineering or a related field.
Exceptional Writing Skills: A superior command of the English language with impeccable grammar spelling and a talent for explaining complex topics in a clear and concise manner.
Technical Aptitude: A proven ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts related to software electronics and integrated systems.
Tool Proficiency: High proficiency with industry-standard documentation tools including the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word Excel and Visio).
Attention to Detail: A meticulous and organized approach with a keen eye for detail in formatting consistency and accuracy.
Aviation/Aerospace Experience: Direct experience creating technical documentation in the aviation or aerospace industry is a significant advantage.
Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with aerospace documentation principles and specifications such as ASD-STE100 (Simplified Technical English) S1000D or ATA iSpec 2200.
Certification Documentation: Experience contributing to documentation packages for certification to standards like DO-178C DO-254 or ARP4754A is a major plus.
Relevant Experience: Experience managing engineering documents within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (like Teamcenter or Windchill) or a dedicated Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).
Advanced Authoring Tools: Experience with dedicated technical authoring tools like Adobe FrameMaker MadCap Flare or similar.
Collaboration Tools: Experience using collaborative platforms like Confluence and Jira for documentation management.
Graphics Skills: Ability to create or edit technical illustrations diagrams and flowcharts to supplement written content.
