Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Linux Developer with 68 years of experience in residential gateways networking devices or IoT edge platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in OpenWrt/Yocto-based firmware development networking stacks and low-level system debugging along with experience in integrating device management services across multiple hardware platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Embedded Firmware Development
. Design develop and customize embedded Linux firmware (OpenWrt/Yocto-based)
. Build and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs) for networking devices
. Port firmware across architectures (ARM MIPS x86)
. Work on bootloaders such as U-Boot and system initialization
Networking & Gateway Development
. Develop and enhance networking features for residential gateways and routers
. Implement and troubleshoot: TCP/IP DHCP DNS Routing NAT firewall (iptables/nftables) Wi-Fi protocols (802.11) and mesh networking
. Work with device management protocols such as TR-069 / TR-369
. Perform packet-level debugging using tcpdump and Wireshark
Device Management & Integration
. Develop and integrate device management services
. Implement remote provisioning monitoring and firmware upgrade mechanisms
. Collaborate with backend/cloud teams for device lifecycle management
Low-Level Development & Debugging
. Debug kernel driver and system-level issues
. Work with hardware interfaces (UART SPI I2C GPIO)
. Use debugging tools such as gdb strace and dmesg
. Analyze system performance memory usage and stability issues
Open Source & Collaboration
. Contribute to or leverage open-source projects (e.g. OpenWrt ecosystem)
. Work with cross-functional teams (hardware QA DevOps)
. Participate in code reviews and ensure coding best practices
Must-Have Skills:
. Strong programming in C / C (mandatory)
. Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux internals: Kernel device drivers system services Build systems: Yocto / OpenWrt / Buildroot
. Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP DHCP DNS Routing NAT firewall (iptables/nftables)
. Experience with cross-compilation and toolchains
. Proficiency in debugging tools: gdb strace tcpdump Wireshark
. Experience with Git-based version control
. Scripting knowledge (Python / Shell)
Preferred Qualifications
. Build systems: Yocto Buildroot OpenWrt
. Version control: Git
. CI/CD: Jenkins GitLab CI
. Debugging: gdb tcpdump Wireshark
