Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software development team establishing team structure and strategic direction while coaching engineers and developing future leaders through collaborative development planning and project assignment.
- Own the technical vision charter and 12 year roadmap for your teams software systems partnering with stakeholders to prioritize projects that align with organizational goals and customer needs.
- Drive system design decisions by facilitating and contributing to architectural discussions evaluating tradeoffs across scalability maintainability performance and security to deliver high-quality sustainable software.
- Create operational mechanisms and metrics that provide visibility into team performance software health and customer experience taking action to address risks and improve outcomes proactively.
- Collaborate across teams and functions to align on priorities resolve dependencies and deliver cohesive solutions while communicating ideas effectively through written narratives and strategic documents.

A day in the life
Your morning might begin reviewing operational dashboards and connecting with engineers on an active design review. By midday you could be partnering with product and peer teams to align on quarterly priorities or unblocking a cross-team dependency. Afternoons often shift to one-on-one coaching sessions with your direct reports working through career development plans or providing feedback on technical proposals. You will balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving staying connected to the details while keeping the bigger picture in focus.

- 10 years of engineering experience
- 5 years of engineering team management experience
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience developing and managing a high-performing team
- Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements prioritize features and influence product roadmaps
- Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience working cross-functionally with a wide breadth of stakeholders users engineers and leaders to generate buy-in
- Experience with capacity planning and delivery estimation using team velocity metrics

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
- Experience designing and launching new products from the ground up
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi Bluetooth and networking
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical status to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in hiring mentoring and growing new engineers
- Experience with C C Android System Software development
- Ability to quickly ramp up on the essentials of new technical areas
