We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in therole Finance NFR and SOX Assistant Vice President.

Purpose of the role

The NFR management team is an integral part of Financial Control (1LOD) function and is led by the Global Financial Controller. The NFR management team are primarily responsible to facilitate embedding Risk management capability and driving sustainable control environment for various processes within Finance. The Sox responsibilities are a key part of the NFR management function. Primarily responsible for the framework policy standards. processes & controls that support the underlying Financial Reporting processes for Group ARA. Also the Group SOX team are responsible for overseeing HSBCs compliance with the requirements for the annual attestation of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) under s404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for supporting oversight of the framework for the effective management of Financial Reporting Risk and SOX including definition of policy and procedures and supporting guidance.
  • Supports key stakeholders across the Group including the Financial Reporting Risk Stewards (Global and Entity) in executing their second line of defense relevant to SOX compliance.
  • Coordination with the entire Finance Reporting Risk team particularly SOX and Assurance teams
  • Key stakeholders include SOX Process Owners Control Owners and their Control Office contacts across the Global Businesses and Infrastructures including Finance
  • The role holder will also co-ordinate closely with the external auditors and support reporting to key governance meetings including Group Audit Committee
  • Designing and embedding improvements in the management of SOX across the Regional Business Functions and Geographies. To be successful the role holder will need to work in partnership with the regional teams as well as with Operational Risk and Non-Financial Risk teams
  • Awareness of financial environment and internal/external factors e.g. Operational Risk Legal Compliance Information Security and Internal Audit requirements.

To be successful you will:

  • Proven experience in leading implementing driving SOX compliance
  • Relevant Finance and control knowledge and experience working in multiple legal entities. Excellent business writing skills
  • Ability to use AI productivity tools. Exceptional drive commitment and focus on operational excellence
  • Proven expertise in drafting and finalizing papers for top level governance forums
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience in a complex global environment
  • Good understanding of HSBCs activities products processes and systems. Experience of working with Operational Risk Internal and External Audit.
  • Relevant accounting qualifications. Ability to use AI productivity tools
  • Proved experience leading implementing and/or improving end-to-end processes
  • Experience of working with Operational Risk Internal and External Audit
