We are looking for a skilled Engineer I Product Development to support the sustaining and new product development for fiber connectivity solutions. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve design issues and recommend and document effective solutions.

Engineering Expertise

• Create documentation of product requirements based on industry standards.
• Support designs of new components and assemblies.
• Create documentation to support the release of new and modified products.
• Support the optical and mechanical testing of fiber optic products.
• Work with Manufacturing on process development and introductions of new products into Manufacturing.
• Perform data analysis and evaluation.
• Leads and maintains project scopes tracks Product Development projects and ensures timely completion of project timelines and milestones.
• Conducts Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to assess product criticality and ensure design robustness.
• Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company customer agency and industry specifications and standards

Collaboration and Communication

• Accountable to Engineering Management in support of the business unit growth objectives.

• Collaboration with current staff which includes other engineers and technicians in team
• Collaborates with global design centers and manufacturing sites to resolve design and manufacturing issues ensuring effective communication and problem-solving.
• Develop awareness of corporate business unit and quality management system documentation.
• Develop awareness of relevant industry standards for fiber optic products
• Develop awareness of the range of lab test equipment.
• Develop knowledge of fiber optic products and technical principals.

Process Excellence

• Ensures seamless design documentation and product change management processes.

Key Skills

• Solid knowledge and skilled user of 3D CAD software.
• Solid knowledge of Product Development Process
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of design for manufacturing for sheet metal & Plastic components
• Skilled at planning and ability to pay attention to details.
• Ability to effectively work within a team environment.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

Masters Bachelors or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5years of relevant experience in product development/design. Proficiency in leading CAD software such as CREO AutoCAD. Should demonstrate strong knowledge of 2D drafting and GD&T tolerance stack-up analysis sustaining engineering principles. Familiarity with PLM systems.
