As a Custom Software Engineer a typical day involves creating tailored software solutions by designing coding and improving various components within systems or applications. Driving bank wide API adoption engagement and engineering excellence. Mission Purpose is to champion bank wide adoption of API standards reusable patterns governance as code and the unified API developer journey. This role will accelerate awareness drive cultural change and influence engineering teams to consistently build secure reusable compliant APIs. The role requires working with modern development frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient software that meets unique business requirements. Collaboration with different teams and continuous enhancement of software components are integral parts of the daily workflow ensuring that solutions remain robust and adaptable to evolving needs.

- Expected to be an SME collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Lead efforts to identify and implement process improvements that enhance team productivity and software quality.
- Mentor junior team members to support their professional growth and integration within the team.
- Champion and communicate bank wide API standards guidelines and golden paths across franchises and functions.
- Lead engagement with engineering guilds communities and Distinguished Engineers to promote consistent adoption.
- Partner with Integration Services Engineering Portal and platform teams to design and improve the unified developer journey.
- Gather feedback from engineering teams (via VoE SIGs guild forums) to shape standards and tooling.
- Advocate for governance as code adoption and ensure teams understand how and why compliance is enforced.
- Create playbooks training content demos workshops and onboarding materials to reduce friction and accelerate adoption.
- Track adoption metrics and publish transparent insights to senior technical leaders.
- Act as the voice of API engineering to surface real world challenges and drive continuous improvement.

- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Experience in designing and implementing scalable software architectures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
- Familiarity with integration techniques and tools to connect diverse systems and applications.
- Strong communicator and influencer comfortable engaging senior engineers architects and leaders.
- Deep understanding of modern API design (OAS 3.1) REST conventions reusability principles and integration patterns.
- Experience delivering developer enablement evangelism or platform as a product uplift.
- Ability to translate technical standards into simple engaging messages for diverse engineering audiences.
- Bank wide uplift in standards awareness and adoption.
- Measurable reduction in non compliant APIs.
- Increased usage of golden path templates governance as code and catalogue-driven workflows.
- Improved developer experience and consistent API delivery across franchises.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in API Management.
- This position is based at our Gurugram office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
