Job Summary
Market Data Distribution Systems Engineer
Our partner company a global financial services firm is looking for a Systems Engineer to join its Market Data Site Reliability and Engineering team responsible for highly available ultra-low-latency platforms that distribute real-time and historical market data (equities indices options fixed income FX) at massive scale with peak rates exceeding 10 million messages/second and daily volumes over 3 billion updates.
What youll do
- Design and configure global market data distribution systems with optimal latency profiles
- Periodically review plant capacity and plan for market volatility
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve plant stability and security
- Work with global market data users to scope and integrate client requirements into the production plant
- Collaborate with clients and development teams on feed migrations and regulatory requirements
- Continuously seek productivity improvements in day-to-day integration work
- Partner with development to test and quality-assure new releases
- Perform regular hygiene activities (OS upgrades security enhancements software upgrades)
What youll bring
- Strong UNIX/Linux OS knowledge (resource monitoring OS tuning)
- UNIX/Linux scripting proficiency (navigation operational functions shell scripts)
- Programming exposure to Python at minimum; Java/C/Perl a plus
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP UDP); multicast knowledge is an advantage
- Experience managing global distribution systems (configuration/capacity management HA)
- Strong problem-solving skills able to work with limited information under time pressure
- Excellent English communication skills for regular cross-region collaboration
