The Junior VAT Advisor will support the development of VAT advisory capabilities across the EMEA region within an in-house multinational environment. The role is designed for a junior VAT professional who has a good understanding of VAT principles and is keen to build deeper technical expertise beyond traditional compliance activities.This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a career in indirect tax within a leading global real estate services organization. Unlike many junior VAT roles that focus primarily on compliance this position provides broad exposure to VAT advisory business partnering VAT technology process improvement and cross-border transactions across the EMEA region.
You will work closely with experienced VAT professionals and external advisors gaining practical experience in complex international VAT matters while developing technical and commercial skills.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
VAT Advisory and Technical Support:
- Support VAT advisory work across EMEA under the guidance of senior VAT and tax colleagues.
- Assist with analysis of VAT technical matters including place of supply tax points taxable persons and activities cross-border transactions and supply chain flows.
- Research and document VAT positions by considering the EU VAT Directive local VAT legislation and relevant business facts.
- Prepare initial technical summaries recommendations and supporting documentation for review by senior team members.
Business Partnering and Stakeholder Support:
- Work with finance controllership accounts payable accounts receivable and business teams to understand transactions and support correct VAT treatment.
- Support internal queries and help translate VAT technical concepts into practical guidance for operational teams.
VAT Systems and Process Improvement:
- Contribute to VAT-related systems data and process improvement initiatives including ERP implementation or enhancement projects.
- Assist with the maintenance and testing of VAT codes tax logic controls and reporting processes in internal systems.
VAT Compliance Coordination:
- Liaise with external advisors and internal teams where VAT compliance inputs supporting data or follow-up actions are required.
- Support the review of VAT compliance outputs where needed while remaining focused on advisory development and technical understanding.
- Provide data documentation and technical support for VAT audits tax authority inquiries and dispute resolution matters.
Audit and Dispute Resolution:

Learning and Development:
- Build technical VAT knowledge through practical advisory work structured coaching and mentoring interaction with external advisors and participation in internal and external training programs.
- Work towards relevant professional qualifications in VAT tax accounting or finance supported by the business through funding assistance and development opportunities.
- Develop the technical commercial and stakeholder management skills required for a successful long-term career in international VAT advisory.
Multinational VAT Exposure:
- Develop an understanding of how VAT operates across different countries service lines business functions and transaction types within a multinational organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in VAT indirect tax or tax advisory preferably gained in a Big 4 advisory practice or multinational environment.
- Basic technical understanding of VAT principles including place of supply rules tax points taxable persons and taxable activities supply chain analysis cross-border transactions and the EU VAT Directive or local VAT legislation.
- Interest in developing a long-term career in VAT advisory within an in-house multinational environment.
- Strong analytical skills attention to detail and ability to apply technical concepts to practical business situations.
- Good communication skills curiosity willingness to learn and confidence to work with stakeholders across finance tax operations and external advisors.
- Familiarity with ERP systems VAT engines data analysis or process improvement initiatives is an advantage.
