Finite-Element Simulation Engineer of Sensors for Automotive and Consumer Electronics
Job Summary
The Mobility Electronics (ME) division engineers a wide portfolio of micro-mechanical sensors that are essential to modern life from automotive safety and navigation over consumer devices like smartphones and hearables up to control systems in spacecrafts. You can find Bosch sensors everywhere. Our team ensures the performance and reliability of these products by applying sophisticated simulation technologies. We specialize in solving complex structural problems at the micro-scale and often at the edge of what is physically possible. Our work is conducted in a highly dynamic international setting in close collaboration with in-house manufacturing and together with world-renowned brands from the automotive and consumer industry.
Your tasks
You simulate cutting-edge sensors for automotive and consumer applications
You apply Finite-Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) with a focus on thermomechanical problems
You continuously improve our simulation methods by model pre-development workflow automation or material characterization
You plan coordinate and evaluate own simulation and/or measurement campaigns
You validate simulation results using measurements or big data sources
Together with colleagues you build up a reliable material database for novel sensor package designs
You evaluate key performance parameters of sensors and propose design changes based on credible simulation data
You perform root-cause analysis of complex problems and provide partners with technical insights for decision making
You document and present simulation results to colleagues partners and customers
You participate in international multi-domain project teams

Qualifications :
Education
- Mechanical engineer civil engineer physicist or similar engineering discipline
- Strong background in structural mechanics and numerical simulations
Experience
- Experience in modeling and simulation using FEA is required
- Experience in the application of commercial FEA software for structural and thermomechanical problems is required (preferably ANSYS Mechanical)
- Experience in data analysis & scripting using MATLAB python or similar tools is required
- Experience in experimental validation of simulation data is a strong plus
- Experience in MEMS or packaging of semiconductors is an advantage
