Advanced Visualization software engineering intern
Job Summary
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a dedicated small software component and drive its development with the support of experienced engineers. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently takes initiative and is excited to contribute to a real product environment while continuing to develop their technical skills.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Software Engineering Intern you will:
- Collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and develop your technical expertise.
- Write clean maintainable code that meets project requirements and coding standards.
- Develop and maintain automation tests for acceptance functional and regression testing.
- Contribute to manual test creation execution and documentation.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving software bugs.
- Gain familiarity with GE HealthCares internal tools and development processes.
- Help maintain high-quality project documentation.
- Follow guidance and mentorship from senior team members.
- Take ownership of a dedicated software component / UI widget and drive its development from design through implementation and testing.
- Work independently on well-defined development tasks while collaborating with technical mentors and the wider engineering team as needed.
- Contribute to frontend and user interface development activities supporting Advanced Visualization products.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Ongoing university studies in the STEM field (Science Technology Engineering and Math).As this internship requires a minimum 12month commitment a later expected graduation date (e.g. 2027 or beyond) will be considered an advantage.
- Availability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week (up to 40 hours).
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language.
- Basic experience with Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong attention to detail especially regarding code quality testability maintainability and documentation.
- Residency in Hungary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- Interest in healthcare technologies and advanced visualization.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setup from GE HealthCares Váci Greens office (2 days/week onsite).
- Ability to work independently take ownership of assigned tasks and proactively drive progress with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Comfort working in situations where requirements may initially be high-level and require clarification and initiative.
