PeopleCert is seeking an AI Engineer who will design build evaluate and produce AI-powered solutions across our platforms. You will focus on applied AI innovation: using LLMs retrieval systems classical ML and automation pipelines to deliver real-world value for learners partners exam operations and internal teams.
As an AI Engineer your tasks will include the following:
- Design develop fine-tune and evaluate AI ML and generative AI models for enterprise and product use cases.
- Build AI-powered applications APIs and automation pipelines using Python and modern AI engineering practices.
- Develop experimentation and evaluation workflows for prompts models retrieval quality benchmarking and production performance.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and business stakeholders to prepare validate and manage high-quality datasets.
- Work closely with MLOps / platform teams to deploy monitor and maintain AI solutions in production.
What we look for:
- Bachelors Degree in STEM Computer Science Engineering or a related field; a Masters degree or higher will be considered a plus.
- 2 years of hands-on experience building AI ML or data-driven solutions and taking them from prototype to usable applications APIs or production workflows.
- Strong Python skills and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch TensorFlow Hugging Face scikit-learn FastAPI and Streamlit.
- Hands-on expertise with foundation models LLMs transformers embeddings RAG and multimodal AI.
- Familiarity with cloud AI platforms and services such as Azure OpenAI Azure AI Search Azure ML or Azure Cognitive Services.
- Excellent knowledge of English. C2 level certification is desired; LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus. Extra languages desired.
- Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advanced level certification is desirable.
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to align technical solutions to business needs.
Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with API design best practices including authentication versioning validation documentation error handling and monitoring.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation hybrid search semantic ranking or vector databases.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment CI/CD workflows Docker Kubernetes or serverless architectures.
- Understanding of prompt engineering and LLM evaluation techniques will be considered a plus.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)
Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.
If working on the SELT service in the UK background checks will include:
- A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
- Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality identity and place of residence)
- HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
- Financial background check
- Employment reference check.
- If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.
In addition if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) the official language of the relevant country.
