Transport Officer
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive organised and dependable Transport Officer to support the effective coordination and daily operation of the companys transport and fleet activities.
The successful candidate will assist with vehicle scheduling driver coordination trip monitoring documentation maintenance planning and ensuring that transport operations are carried out safely efficiently and in compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
This role is suitable for an early-career professional who has practical exposure to transport fleet haulage or logistics operations and is looking to build a career within the logistics industry.
- Assist in planning and coordinating daily vehicle and driver assignments.
- Prepare and maintain vehicle movement and trip schedules.
- Monitor vehicle movements and ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
- Communicate regularly with drivers regarding assignments routes delivery schedules and operational requirements.
- Track vehicles and trips and provide timely updates on delays breakdowns accidents or other operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage fuel consumption trips maintenance and driver activities.
- Assist with monitoring fuel usage and identifying unusual consumption or discrepancies.
- Coordinate routine vehicle servicing repairs inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure vehicle documentation including insurance roadworthiness certificates and other regulatory documents remains valid and up to date.
- Conduct or support daily vehicle inspections and ensure identified defects are reported promptly.
- Ensure drivers comply with company transport procedures safety requirements and applicable road traffic regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation for deliveries waybills trip sheets fuel records and other transport-related documents.
- Assist in investigating and documenting accidents vehicle damage delays and other transport incidents.
- Liaise with the operations warehouse customer service and other relevant teams to facilitate smooth transportation activities.
- Prepare daily weekly and monthly transport and fleet reports as required.
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing transportation costs improving vehicle utilisation and increasing operational efficiency.
- Perform any other transport or logistics-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
- HND or Bachelors Degree in Logistics Transport Management Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in transport fleet haulage logistics or distribution operations.
- Experience working within a logistics transport FMCG distribution shipping or related environment will be an advantage.
- A valid Ghanaian drivers licence will be an added advantage.
