Human Resources Manager International School
Job Summary
A reputable International School located in Abelemkpe Accra is seeking an experienced professional and strategic Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the schools human resource function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective HR policies managing recruitment and onboarding employee relations performance management staff development compensation and benefits administration HR compliance and employee engagement.
The HR Manager will work closely with school leadership to ensure the institution attracts develops motivates and retains high-quality teaching and non-teaching staff while maintaining a professional safe and positive working environment.
Previous HR management experience within a school or educational institution is required.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the schools objectives and educational philosophy.
- Provide professional HR advice and support to the Head of School management and departmental heads.
- Develop review and implement HR policies procedures employee handbooks and administrative guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Prepare periodic HR reports and workforce information for management decision-making.
- Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for teaching administrative operational and support staff.
- Work with school leadership and departmental heads to identify staffing requirements.
- Prepare job descriptions advertisements interview guides and candidate assessment criteria.
- Coordinate interviews reference checks background verification and other pre-employment checks.
- Ensure appropriate safeguarding and background checks are completed before employees assume duty.
- Develop and coordinate effective onboarding and orientation programmes for new employees.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employee concerns grievances workplace conflicts and disciplinary matters.
- Promote positive employee relations and a healthy organisational culture.
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies procedures and employment matters.
- Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures fairly consistently and confidentially.
- Conduct investigations into workplace complaints and recommend appropriate actions.
- Support the development and administration of competitive compensation and benefits structures.
- Provide accurate employee information and changes required for monthly payroll processing.
- Verify payroll-related information including new hires exits leave allowances deductions and other adjustments.
- Manage employee benefits and liaise with relevant service providers where required.
- Support periodic salary reviews and compensation benchmarking.
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management Business Administration Psychology Management or a related discipline.
- A Masters Degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline will be an advantage.
- Professional HR certification or membership of a recognised HR professional body will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years progressive HR experience including experience in an HR managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Previous HR management experience within a school or educational institution is required.
- Experience within an international school environment will be a strong advantage.
- Good knowledge of Ghanaian labour legislation and contemporary HR practices.
- Experience managing both teaching and non-teaching employees will be advantageous.
