Job Summary

Role Purpose

The Head of Finance is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of accounting financial reporting taxation financial controls and financial governance. The role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial information effective tax management sound financial controls and adherence to applicable accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.

The Head of Finance serves as the principal advisor to the CEO and Executive Management on accounting standards taxation financial reporting and financial governance matters while ensuring the company maintains the highest standards of financial stewardship and accountability.


Required Skills:

1. Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting operations.
  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review and approve financial statements before submission to Executive Management and the Board.
  • Ensure the accuracy completeness and integrity of financial records.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations fixed asset accounting and ledger management.

2. Tax Management

  • Develop and implement the companys tax strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate withholding payroll VAT and other tax obligations.
  • Oversee tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency.
  • Manage tax audits assessments disputes and engagements with tax authorities.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
  • Advise management on tax implications of business transactions investments and new products.
  • Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and statutory obligations.

3. Financial Controls

  • Design and maintain a strong financial control framework.
  • Establish controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Monitor adherence to accounting policies and delegated authority limits.
  • Oversee financial risk controls relating to revenue expenses assets liabilities and treasury activities.
  • Lead investigations relating to financial irregularities and control breaches.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and control effectiveness.

4. Statutory and Regulatory Reporting

  • Oversee all statutory financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to regulators tax authorities auditors and other statutory bodies.
  • Coordinate responses to financial reviews and examinations by regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external auditors and statutory bodies.

5. Financial Governance

  • Support the Board and Executive Management on matters relating to financial governance.
  • Develop policies that promote accountability transparency and sound financial management.
  • Participate in enterprise risk management initiatives from a financial perspective.
  • Ensure effective segregation of duties and governance controls across financial processes.

6. Leadership and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop the Accounting Tax and Financial Control teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability integrity and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors tax consultants banks and professional advisors.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the CEO and Executive Management Team on financial reporting and taxation matters.
