Europes private markets manage trillions in assets yet much of the work behind them still runs on manual processes spreadsheets and fragmented legacy systems. Investor onboarding KYC/AML checks subscriptions and closings can take weeks and tie up lawyers fund administrators and compliance teams.

Vestlane is changing that. We build the KYC/AML and onboarding platform for funds and asset managers: one system that takes investors from first contact to closing with screening risk scoring and monitoring built in and audit-ready by default. Fund managers get a faster fully digital process; their investors get an experience that finally matches the quality of the funds they invest in.

Since 2021 we have onboarded 12000 investors & assets from around the world into 600 funds working with leading European and international fund managers. Our team combines lawyers engineers and compliance experts and we work in small senior teams with real ownership and short decision paths. In this role you work at the intersection of fund law legal research client implementation and legal engineering. Your analysis doesnt end in a memo: you turn it into digital workflows that run in live fund closings and investor onboardings.

• Research and assess legal questions in the fund space: analyze limited partnership agreements (LPAs) subscription documents and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions including Germany Luxembourg the UK and many more.
• Work directly with fund managers law firms and fund administrators to understand their existing legal and compliance processes and translate them into scalable standardized workflows on Vestlane.
• Implement subscription documents on our platform: build them into legally sound production-ready digital workflows with form logic field mapping and e-signature integration (DocuSign).
• Support client implementations from the first document review to go-live and take on more responsibility for your own projects as you grow into the role.
• Feed what you learn back into our product: spot recurring legal and regulatory requirements across clients and jurisdictions and share them with our Product and Engineering teams.
• Work closely with our Legal & Compliance team who provide subject-matter guidance and contribute to the continuous improvement of our legal-tech processes templates and documentation.

• You are studying law (ideally from the fourth semester onwards) with an interest in corporate business or capital markets law or you have already completed your degree. Students of business law (LL.B./LL.M.) and legal trainees (Referendar:innen) looking for a part-time role are equally welcome.
• You enjoy working through complex legal questions but you are just as interested in what happens after the analysis: how requirements are implemented in practice and turned into efficient repeatable processes.
• You work in a structured detail-oriented way. Getting a document exactly right matters to you because it will run in real fund closings.
• You are curious about technology and want to get hands-on with digital tools and processes. You dont need to be a developer but you enjoy figuring out how things work.
• You communicate confidently in German and English in writing and with clients.

Nice to have not required:

• First exposure to fund law fund structures or investor onboarding for example through a seminar internship or a position at a law firm or fund administrator.

• 20 hours per week flexibly scheduled around lectures and exam periods
• Remote-first preferably located in the Cologne/Bonn area
