Job Summary

The working student inside the GIS-team is supporting the sourcing maintenance and provision of geographical data required within BD Germany. The role also includes active involvement in identifying suitable areas for large-scale PV and BESS projects obtaining landowner information and creating maps for acquisition and contractual purposes. 

  • Support GIS-based screenings for large-scale hybrid PVBESS projects using QGIS ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online
  • Assist with sourcing maintaining and preparing geographical data
  • Support the ordering processing and provision of landowner and parcel information
  • Create and update maps for acquisition planning and contractual purposes
  • Help maintain GIS databases and structure project-related geodata
  • Support the preparation of reliable and traceable map material
  • Assist with online tools such as ArcGIS Online and the internal CRM system
  • Support the GIS team in day-to-day tasks and further GIS-related activities
  • Conduct research on publicly available geodata and support data requests from public authorities where required
  • take part in assessing and deepening the implementation of AI features for GIS purposes

Qualifications :

  • Enrolled Bachelors or Masters student in geography geoinformatics spatial planning environmental planning surveying renewable energies or a related GIS field
  • Good basic understanding of geographical information systems geodata and databases
  • First practical experience with GIS software such as QGIS ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Online
  • Initial experience with database maintenance structuring or analysis is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of query or programming languages such as SQL and/or Python is desirable
  • First experience with automation processes in GIS or data workflows is advantageous
  • Conscientious structured and reliable working style especially when handling sensitive parcel landowner and project data
  • Certifications or completed courses in QGIS ArcGIS SQL or Python are a plus but not mandatory
  • Very good German skills both written and spoken; English skills are desirable
  • Interest in renewable energies spatial analysis and the development of large-scale PV and BESS projects
  • Availability of approximately 20 hours per week
