As part of the BMFTRs SEMECO Future Cluster BIOTRONIK and an external partner are developing a universal implant sensor platform that turns conventional infusion connectors into intelligent networked systems; in this role you will help create new features for implantable devices in novel medical applications bringing a collaborative creative and innovative mindset to this exciting multidisciplinary project.
Your Tasks
- In your role you will collaborate on firmware development for implantable devices. You will work closely with hardware engineers product managers and software teams to define new firmware requirements and deliver integrated system level solutions that meet our quality and project requirements
- As an embedded C/C developer you will independently and in an agile manner adapt existing firmware and maintain continuous communication with the project team
- For the new requirements you will extend the development environment to enable new functionality new interfaces and establish test integration points or develop tests for use by project partners and thirdparty developers
- Together with the project team you will develop initial concepts enabling technologies for cloudbased evaluation of sensor data
Your Profile
- Completed studies in technical computer science or a comparable university degree
- Several years of experience in Firmware Development: With a solid foundation in firmware engineering principles and preferably experience in the medical or related wearable/consumer electronics field
- Expertise in C/C: Proficient in writing high-quality maintainable and efficient code in C/C with a deep understanding of microcontroller architectures and experience in signal processing
- Familiarity with Sensors and Wireless Communication: Experience integrating and optimizing a variety of sensors commonly used in medical devices such as accelerometers and integrated sensor units. Background and experience with RF communication protocols desired
- Knowledge of Power Management: Desired experience in power optimization for battery-operated devices ensuring longevity and efficiency of systems
- Agile Development Practices: Comfortable working in an agile development environment with excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with teams across different geographic locations
- Very good English skills (C1 or above) and good German skills (B2 or above)
- Willingness to travel internationally for projectrelated activities including initial extended stays in the USA for onboarding
This position is funded by a collaboration contract and is initially limited to 3 years.
