The EMEA Financial Services Sovereigns and International Public Finance team at S&P Global Ratings comprises more than 150 analysts across nine offices delivering credit opinions across Europe the Middle East and Africa. This cross-practice Sector Lead role drives analytical thought leadership on transformative financial trends including geopolitical risk private credit market expansion digital assets and capital markets policy shifts and coordinates research and insight across the analytical organization and its external stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Impact
This role shapes S&P Global Ratings analytical coverage of the systemic and transformative trends redefining financial markets ensuring the organization maintains differentiated forward-looking perspectives that inform credit analysis rating committees and external market engagement across all asset classes.
Core Analytical & Delivery
Lead sector analysis on transformative financial themes translating complex developments into differentiated evidence-based insights for internal and external audiences.
Apply data advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools to enhance the depth and consistency of thematic analytical outputs.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
Represent S&P Global Ratings analytical perspective with senior stakeholders including management teams investors and regulators upholding independence and analytical integrity.
Partner with Methodology teams and participate in relevant forums to support consistent criteria interpretation while bringing sector insights to strengthen analytical frameworks.
Risk Management and Operating
Connect issuer and sector developments to forward-looking risk themes producing insights that inform monitoring activities research and rating committee discussions.
Leadership & Talent Development
Coach and mentor analysts and senior analysts building capability in sector expertise credit judgment and AI-enabled analytical practices.
Collaborate across sectors regions and asset classes to share best practices address complex cross-market developments and enhance global analytical consistency.
What Were Looking For
Required Skills and Experience
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 10 years of relevant experience in credit analysis financial research or analytical leadership across financial services sovereign or public finance sectors.
Demonstrated experience leading sector analysis and producing thematic insights on transformative financial trends such as geopolitical risk transmission private credit market evolution digital assets or capital markets policy developments.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and market developments into concise evidence-based narratives for senior internal and external audiences.
Demonstrated experience engaging senior stakeholders including investors regulators and management teams on complex analytical topics with clarity and rigor.
Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring analytical teams building capability in sector expertise credit judgment and modern analytical practices.
Preferred or Helpful Experience
Experience with AI-enabled analytical tools and data-driven research methodologies in a credit analysis or financial research context.
Cross-practice or cross-asset experience spanning multiple sectors or regions within a major rating agency or financial institution.
Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred. A masters degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking
Additional Information
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
