Job Summary

Drive cutting-edge research at the intersection of materials science thin-film engineering and MEMS this PhD position you will create new material concepts develop advanced characterization approaches and translate simulation insights into real-world semiconductor applications.

  • Participate in the development of novel materials for the upcoming generations of MEMS devices
  • Provide insights into existing characterization methods investigate and develop new methodologies for the study of newly developed thin films
  • Coordinate computational simulation work for the prediction of physical/chemical properties of metallic and dielectric layers
  • Study how volatile elements are stored at the surface and in the bulk of thin films deposited via different deposition techniques
  • Plan experiments to verify simulated predictions and to test characterization methods
  • Work in parallel with expert engineers from the Robert Bosch GmbH ecosystem and academics
  • Participate in Intellectual Property filings present your research at international conferences and publish the outcomes of your studies
     

Qualifications :

 

  • Personality: enthusiastic curious collaborative creative with a keen spirit for innovation predisposition to teamwork and capability to perform under pressure
  • Working Practice: effective team player with a focused methodical and highly independent working style
  • Experience: a good knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and measurement techniques is required; direct experience with MEMS manufacturing is highly beneficial; previous industrial experience will be a strong plus; knowledge or experience with simulation methodologies (e.g. DFT) is a plus
  • Languages: very good English skills German is beneficial
  • Education: Masters Degree or diploma in engineering or natural sciences (e.g. Physics Chemistry Material Science) or similar fields with outstanding results
