Network Engineer (mfd) . 26-78340

We are looking for Network Engineer to support EUMETSATs multi-mission environments adapting to growing IT demands while mitigating the risks of legacy system overhead.

Background:

The I2D Division where our team is operating is at the heart of enabling seamless Flight Operations and satellite data processing. We are a dynamic team responsible for designing maintaining and securing the technological backbone that drives our mission forward.

You shall support:

• Routine system operations service;
• Hardware Maintenance service
• End-user requests;
• Installation and configuration of computer and storage solutions;
• Interface to hardware repair and COTS support maintenance providers.
• Monitoring and alerting

Skills and experiences

• University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
• Fluency in English
• 1-3 years of professional experience in this role or an equivalent combination of education and applied internships.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (OSI model VLANs IP addressing
• routing Wireless technologies DNS/DHCP ACLs etc.). IP allocation and DNS entries via the DNS/IPAM system.
• Familiarity with common network device interfaces (CLI on Cisco web interfaces; SNMP-based tools).
• Basic understanding of the principles of ACI is desired but not essential as in-house training on the dashboard can be provided.
• Experience using network monitoring platforms and log management tools. Such as but not exclusive to Solarwinds Netbrain OPS View and Splunk. To include additions/removal of new devices generating reports upon request and NMS tuning.
• Ability to interpret alerts and log entries related to interface status link health and device availability.
• Understanding of VPN technologies and remote access troubleshooting.
• Structured documentation skills and experience with ticketing or change management systems.

Working Location

This is a full-time position to be in located on-site at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt Germany with an expected start date as soon as possible. Hybrid work is also allowed with up to 3 days remote from your German address depending on the customer needs
