Material & Process Engineer – Space Industry
Job Summary
Muxon is a small globally active recruitment agency and is conducting this search on behalf of our partner a fast-growing European space engineering company specialising in the development and manufacture of deployable antenna reflector technologies and other flight hardware for satellite missions. The role offers the opportunity to work directly on space-flight hardware including projects connected to major European programmes such as Copernicus.
- Select and qualify composite and metallic materials according to mission requirements.
- Plan and lead material surface treatment and process qualification campaigns in line with ECSS standards.
- Lead and participate in Material & Process Review Boards with customers and suppliers.
- Characterise material performance and oversee mechanical and environmental testing.
- Investigate material failures perform root-cause analysis and report findings.
- Collaborate with process and production engineers to develop new materials and processes where required.
- Prepare manufacturing processes test procedures and technical reports for space projects.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in materials or process engineering with composites and metallic materials.
- Direct experience with materials for space-flight hardware or space programmes.
- Strong knowledge of ECSS materials and process standards including qualification activities.
- Experience preparing processes test procedures and reports for space projects.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- English at C1 level or higher.
- Willingness to work predominantly on-site in Eching.
- Direct involvement in flight hardware for major ESA-related space missions.
