We are looking for a Lead Engineer Firmware (Motor Control) based in Aachen Germany.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Design optimization and implementation of advanced motor control algorithms including Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and Direct Torque Control (DTC)
  • Utilization of MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and control validation
  • Identification and resolution of complex motor control and firmware-related issues during development and deployment phases
  • Ensure motor control systems and firmware adhere to safety standards and best practices
  • Conduct system-level tests to ensure performance reliability and safety of motor control
  • Lead and mentor the project team providing technical guidance and ensuring smooth integration of motor control algorithms into embedded systems

  • Drive the global defined roadmap for motor control firmware development aligning with firmware-committee and technology strategies
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation including design specifications firmware architecture and best practices for motor control implementation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hardware motor and compressor engineers to achieve cohesive system designs

Required qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in Control and Drive Technology Automation Technology Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or a closely related field
  • More than 8 years of experience in a similar position with extensive experience in motor control and firmware development.
  • Strong expertise in developing and optimizing motor control algorithms for variable speed drives with proficiency in MATLAB Simulink C and C.
  • Proven project leadership and experience in guiding firmware-related teams defining development roadmaps and ensuring seamless integration of motor control algorithms into embedded systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex motor control and firmware-related issues during development and deployment.
  • Strong communication collaboration and organizational abilities
  • Solid spoken and written English skills to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams.

This role is based in Aachen Germany with a hybrid working model that combines collaboration in the office with the flexibility of remote work.
