Java Desktop Developer (mfd) – Scientific Instrument Control Software

We are looking for several Java Desktop Developers to join our growing software team in Bremen. This role is part of a long-term expansion of our software development organization and we expect to continue growing the team as our instrument software portfolio evolves.

As a Java Desktop Developer you will contribute to the development of desktop applications used to control advanced mass spectrometry instruments. You will work closely with software developers scientists and engineers to create reliable high-quality solutions at the intersection of software and scientific hardware.This role offers the opportunity to work on software that directly controls advanced scientific instruments used by researchers around the world.

- Design develop and maintain Java desktop applications for mass spectrometry instrument control.
- Implement new features enhance existing functionality and resolve software defects.
- Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality reliability and performance.
- Write clean maintainable and efficient code following modern software engineering practices.
- Collaborate closely with software developers scientists and engineers to deliver innovative instrument control solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing Java desktop applications.
- Experience developing debugging or testing software that interfaces with laboratory industrial or other physical devices
- Excellent problem-solving communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent command of English both written and spoken.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Eclipse RCP and Eclipse-based applications.
- Experience developing scientific industrial or instrument control software.
