Our Hortprovides students with opportunities beyond the regular school day. Educators in Hort focus on childrens social behavioural physical and emotional learning during open Hort hours in the classrooms and during school holidays. We place value on the interaction between the child and the adult within our learning environments to promote independence confidence and initiative-taking in children. The conceptual background of our work is informed by the International Primary Curriculum and Saxonys Learning Curriculum (Bildungsplan) for children.
Your tasks and responsibilities

This temporary assignment is available exclusively to current Hort Educators employed at Leipzig International School.During the term of this temporary assignment the employee shall be released from approximately 10 hours per week of their regular role as a Hort Educator in order to perform the responsibilities of Interim Hort Coordinator.

This assignment shall remain in effect until the position of Hort Leader is filled or at the latest until 31 December 2026. The purpose of this temporary assignment is to ensure the organisational and administrative continuity of the Hort Programme. This temporary assignment does not include any disciplinary or pedagogical leadership responsibilities.

Personnel and Staff Scheduling
  • Planning of the Inset Week (17 - 21 August 2026) in cooperation with the Primary School Principal.
  • Preparation of duty schedules for the Morning Hort Midday Hort Afternoon Hort and Late Hort.
  • Planning of in-class assignments and timetables for the Hort Educators in cooperation with Primary School Management.
  • Assisting the People & Culture team with working time arrangements and staff allocation.
  • Allocation of Hort responsibilities and themed rooms.
  • Preparation of duty rosters.
  • Preparation of the Duty Plan (break supervision schedule) in cooperation with the Primary School Assistant Principal.
  • Coordination of interns volunteers and trainees including the assignment of mentors/supervisors where appropriate.
  • Maintaining an overview of additional responsibilities of the Hort team members (e.g. Child Welfare Protection Works Council and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)).
  • Planning annual leave for the Hort team for the calendar year 2027 in cooperation with the People & Culture team.
  • Maintaining the compensatory time (Comp Time) overview including overtime and deficit hours.
Holiday Hort Programme
  • Coordination of the administrative planning of the Holiday Programme in cooperation with Finance ICT and the Facilities Team including:

    • Registration (Engage setup and student enrolment)
    • Data management and communication with parents
    • Billing
    • Staff planning
    • Room allocation
    • Coordination of the teams responsible for the holiday programmes
Budget and Administration
  • Monitoring the Hort budget and approving JobRouter requests within the approved budget.
  • Maintaining class lists and fire drill lists.
  • Managing health certificates and first-aid refresher training records for the Hort team.
  • Organising operational logistics for the Hort Programme (room allocation name badges and communications).
Organisation
  • Administrative planning for the Hort Programme during school events (e.g. Parent-Teacher Conferences Back-to-School Party and Bee Day).
  • Serving as the primary contact for parents regarding general organisational matters relating to the Hort Programme.
  • Continuing to perform duties as an Hort Educator during morning and afternoon Hort sessions in accordance with the staff schedule.
Your profile
  • Be a current member of the LIS Hort team with a strong understanding of the day-to-day operations of the Hort Programme.
  • Have experience providing administrative support and be familiar with the Horts administrative processes.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Be able to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Demonstrate a proactive flexible and solution-focused approach.
  • Possess excellent written and spoken English.
  • Have a sound working knowledge of relevant employment regulations including the Federal Leave Act (Bundesurlaubsgesetz) the Working Hours Act (Arbeitszeitgesetz) and the schools working time arrangements.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
