Group Director Accounting (mfd)

As Group Director Accounting you will lead REPAs corporate accounting function and ensure accurate timely and scalable financial reporting across our European business. Reporting directly to the CFO you will oversee accounting operations for a complex distribution environment including inventory cost accounting consolidations compliance and financial controls.

You will play a key role in supporting REPAs continued growth by driving process excellence strengthening governance leading transformation initiatives and developing a high-performing accounting organization.

Your Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Corporate Controllership

• Lead all corporate accounting activities including monthly quarterly and annual close processes across multiple European entities.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements consolidations intercompany accounting and general ledger activities.
• Own the quality and completeness of the balance sheet and income statement supported by robust reconciliations variance analysis and review processes.
• Oversee complex accounting matters including revenue recognition leases foreign currency acquisitions impairments and equity-related transactions.
• Provide executive leadership with visibility into accounting performance emerging risks and business-critical financial matters.

Inventory Cost & Distribution Accounting

• Own accounting policies and execution for inventory valuation standard and actual costing reserves obsolescence cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
• Ensure accurate accounting for cost of goods sold freight supplier programs rebates and other key drivers of gross margin.
• Partner closely with Supply Chain Pricing and Commercial leaders to improve margin transparency operational decision-making and working capital performance.
• Serve as the accounting leader for a complex multi-site European distribution network.

Governance Controls & Compliance

• Strengthen accounting governance and internal controls across inventory purchasing receiving warehousing order-to-cash procure-to-pay and financial reporting processes.
• Lead risk assessments control improvement initiatives remediation programs and audit readiness activities.
• Act as the primary accounting contact for external auditors and ensure the timely resolution of accounting and control matters.
• Promote scalable and consistent accounting practices across entities functions and geographies.
• Oversee transfer pricing documentation and related intercompany processes ensuring compliance with applicable regulations while driving process standardization transparency and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with accounting-related tax requirements and support the continuous improvement of related processes.

Transformation & Strategic Initiatives

• Drive the harmonization standardization and automation of accounting processes systems and reporting structures across European entities to improve efficiency transparency and scalability.
• Lead or support ERP implementations finance transformation programs warehouse management integrations and process modernization initiatives.
• Provide accounting leadership for acquisitions integrations new distribution centers network expansions and other strategic projects.
• Build a finance infrastructure capable of supporting continued organic growth and future acquisitions.

Leadership

• Lead develop and inspire a high-performing accounting organization across Europe.
• Continuously evolve the European accounting operating model optimizing organizational structures responsibilities and processes to support efficiency accountability and future growth.
• Establish clear accountability succession planning and talent development strategies.
• Partner effectively with operational leaders while maintaining an independent controllership mindset.
• Foster a culture of ownership continuous improvement collaboration and operational excellence.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience including significant responsibility within distribution wholesale retail manufacturing or other inventory-intensive environments.
• Proven success leading multi-country multi-entity accounting organizations across Europe.
• Deep expertise in inventory cost and operational accounting within a complex distribution or supply chain environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience navigating complex accounting issues and business transactions.
• Demonstrated success leading ERP implementations finance transformations and large-scale process standardization initiatives.
• Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels in a fast-growing evolving business.
• Exceptional leadership stakeholder management and communication skills with credibility among executives auditors and business leaders.

Preferred

• Experience in a private equity-backed acquisitive or rapidly growing international organization.
• Experience integrating ERP warehouse management document management financial reporting and consolidation systems.
