Flight Dynamics Software Engineer (mfd)
Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Flight Dynamics Software Engineer with at least 1-3 years of work related experience to join our team.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing a modern flight dynamics software product conducting performance analyses and working closely with our engineering teams. Being part of our core flight dynamics team allows you to work closely with European industry and space agencies in the field of astrodynamics.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze user needs and translate them into technical requirements for flight dynamics systems.
- Working as part of our flight dynamics team collaborating with colleagues on the development maintenance and improvements of the flight dynamics system in support to constellation missions operations covering all phases of operations including routine and contingency operations.
- Design and implement advanced orbital mechanics algorithms and solutions
- Define develop and manage interfaces between the flight dynamics system other ground segment components and external data providers.
- Contribute to technical problem-solving in close cooperation with multidisciplinary experts applying structured engineering and software development practices.
- Participate in verification validation and quality assurance activities for flight dynamics solutions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to system design and user manual.
- Design and oversee testing at the unit component integration and system levels to ensure operational readiness.
- Assist in troubleshooting problem resolution and continuous improvement of flight dynamics tools and processes.
- Providing technical support in sales activities or customer support relevant to the flight dynamics system.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Space Engineering or related discipline.
- Fluency in English and good communication skills.
- Good understanding of ground system architecture satellite operations concepts and system interfaces.
- Experience with flight dynamics operations for LEO and/or GEO missions.
- Experience in design development or operational use of Flight Dynamic Systems developing Flight Dynamics Systems for LEO and/or GEO satellites
- Background in mission analysis and mission planning is highly valued.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ECSS and CCSDS.
- Experience working within structured configuration and change management environments (e.g. git)
- Proficiency in software development using Java or C and willingness to learn other coding languages.
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL Oracle) and their application in mission or operational contexts.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with Flight Dynamics tools and libraries (e.g. Orekit GODOT or similar frameworks).
- Experience contributing to software delivery or validation processes within mission environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex technical scenarios and propose effective solutions.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Results-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to meeting project milestones and mission objectives.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with constellation mission planning and operations.
- Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and DevOps practices in space projects.
- Knowledge of new space mission architectures or emerging mission concepts.
Working Location
This is a full-time position to be located at Termas premises in Darmstadt Germany with an expected start date as soon as possible.
